Training for Professionals
We offer Suicide Prevention Summits and Train the Trainers workshops for veteran service providers and mental health and medical professionals. These are either virtual or 2 to 3-day events, focused on teaching the core concepts of Military Moral Injury© and group work with military veterans. Participants have both classroom instruction and hands-on arena work with our horse herd. This is to provide them with the experiential learning essential to appreciating the way the herd’s behavior informs our repair of Military Moral Injury©.

Train the Trainers

Virtual and Live Trainings for Mental Health Professionals, Veteran Service Providers and Veterans
TRR conducts professional trainings for Veteran and First Responder service providers, licensed mental health and medical professionals, equine professionals and yoga teachers. These Train the Trainers workshops are, in part, sponsored by our VA Adaptive Sports grant for equine therapy and yoga. Trainings are beig conducted virtually during the Covid-19 pandemic.
All in-person trainings are currently held at the site at which we conduct our Warrior Camp® programs. This provides our trainees an abbreviated encounter that mimics what the warriors experience during the week of Warrior Camp®
During programs, all the modalities we use occur in the context of an integrated, community-based program. This is our approach to preventing suicide – by forming a tightly knit, cohesive unit of combat veterans, with a common goal of bringing each of them all the way home. Part of the community we form includes the clinical team and the support staff – alumni of programs who return to give back.

In our community we use the skills of attention and reflection – sharing experiences vs details which increases participants’ comfort levels. The things we focus on at Warrior Camp also guide the way we conduct our training workshops. Our philosophy is that warriors (and first responders) trauma happens to them in the context of a group, and so our workshops also focus on the following qualities that group work provides:
- Building fellowship
- Sharing common interests and goals
- Developing camaraderie
- Having a shared mission
- Knowing people are there for you
- Staying together
Suicide Prevention Summits

Despite our very best efforts as a nation we are still losing 22 veterans a day to suicide. For the almost 10 years that TRR has operated it’s award-winning Warrior Camp® program, we have done so with the understanding that, more important than PTSD, it is the unrepaired damage to warriors’ hearts and souls – called Moral Injury – that is fueling the high rate of suicide.
TRR is convinced that Moral Injury is a central factor in Military Veteran Suicides. In an effort to stem this tide and address this serious existential threat to our nation’s warfighters, we need to build a wide and robust community of veterans, mental health professionals, veteran service organizations, and citizens who honor military service.

2023 Suicide Prevention Summit
Join with leaders, innovators, and activists as we address the issue of Moral Injury at our VIRTUAL 2023 Suicide Prevention Summit with an esteemed keynote speaker followed by a panel discussion, and then a wider audience conversation. This dialogue will be followed by a presentation to show how a herd of horses can help repair Military Moral Injury.

These clinicians get it. Combat is a whole body, whole person experience that can only be processed through a whole body, whole person approach. I would give these people a million dollars if I could. Everyone in the clinical psych world who has even a passing interest in trauma should be paying attention to what this program is doing.

YOU can help support our mission
It is critical that we:
• Become financially and organizationally secure.
• Have a year-round home base of operations from which to grow our direct service programming and training.
• Position ourselves to have a major impact on suicide
prevention nationally and for many diverse populations.
